About

The Thapar–IKS Center advances Indian Knowledge Systems by integrating traditional wisdom into contemporary education and research—bridging paramparā and modern inquiry with clarity, rigor, and relevance.

Our Vision

The center’s objective is to bring traditional knowledge, safeguarded and continuously transmitted across generations, into mainstream education while retaining its glory. In tune with this aim, the Thapar–IKS Center works toward developing and including the Indian Knowledge System syllabus as modules in core courses so that students engage with IKS as part of contemporary education.

We aim to offer foundation-level courses on IKS to all engineering students, fostering awareness of India’s intellectual traditions. The center also introduces how computational techniques can be applied to select Sanskrit texts—bridging contemporary knowledge with our paramparā and dṛṣṭi.

Work Highlights

Our research provides indigenous solutions—from textual, oral, and practical traditions—to contemporary issues in cognitive science, psychology, administration, business models, and business ethics. These projects foreground the laukikaprayojana (practical benefit) of India’s rich wisdom.
